Harry Bosch and Milan

I was in San Francisco running with Michael Connelly’s character Harry Bosch and felt that the book fit perfectly with the scenery of the warf and the history of the city.  I’m in the middle of the second novel “Black Ice” and while I’m enjoying it the book is a little out of place here.  As I run through the Piazzas, round abouts and narrow streets with everything in Italian something is not clicking as well.  I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but maybe I should’ve chosen a more international kind of story to go with the surroundings.  None the less, Harry is bouncing between my ears as I run the city streets.  At least the novel take Harry south of the border and he has the same communication issues I do – slight language barrier.

I ran my route again and took the map just in case too but have found that the landmarks are familiar enough that I could probably venture out without it.  As I explained earlier the shin splint on the left leg is virtually gone – damn that Chi Running!  I have some pain in the right hip now but I think its the long hours and quick stretching that have caused this so not going to worry about it.

We start shooting tomorrow so I’ll probably not blog until Sunday as our days will be long.  We’re going to a Michelin Star rated restaurant tonight called Cracco-Peck.  The Italians say it is one of the best in the city.  I’m excited!
