24 Mile week in San Francisco

This morning was not an easy run.  We’ve been pulling 16 hour days on this production and sleep has been rare commodity.  When the alarm went off at 5:30a it took a lot to put my feet on the floor and start moving but fortunately I was able to convince myself that a run was what I needed.  Slinking to the bathroom, getting dressed and fumbling with my shoelaces I finally made it to the lobby of the hotel and out the door.  Those first few steps, my legs were stiff and tired and seemed to ask, “What are you doing?”  Soon the hotel was a mile behind me, then two and I was coming down Market Street completing four miles to cross the finish line at 3rd street with 24 miles for the whole week.  I wish I could say I felt triumphant with arms raised in a heroic Olympic pose but I couldn’t wait to get to the hotel, drink some water and sit down.

I love this city.  Every time I’m here I ask myself why I don’t have an apartment near the wharf.  To be afforded the opportunity to run through her streets has been a fantastic experience.  I wonder if I could’ve made the week in Los Angeles.  The air is not as crisp or clean.

Tomorrow is scheduled as an 8 mile run.  I’ve been psyching myself up for this day for about a two weeks.  I’ve got the route mapped out but we Tech Scout the Comcast commercial tomorrow and then shoot for three days.  I may run in the evenings because a 4am jaunt around the city is probably not the best plan.  Deep breath and a hot bath tonight.  I’m ready… I think.
